Emma Bovary  is an original artwork realized by the Italian artist and photographer  Angelo Cricchi  in 2009.

Digital print from negative film 6x6.

Hand-signed , dated, and numbered by the artist on the back of the photo. The stamp of the photographer is present on the back as well.

The photo is an edition of 5 unique specimens and is part of the series Gloomy Sunday  realized by the artist in the 2000s.

Both sensual and tragic portrait, representing a nude woman lying on the bed with many letters scattered around her. The woman, as the title of the artwork suggests, represents the tragic heroine from the world of Literature Emma Bovary . The story is taken from the original novel written by the French bohemian author Gustave Flaubert published on "La Revue de Paris" in 1854. The novel is considered one of the most important novels of French Literature of the XIX century. It ends with the tragic death of the main character, Emma, who commits suicide swallowing arsenic.
