Original typical decollage realized by the Pop Italian artist Rotella. The idea of décollage was born during a period of "artistic crisis" of the artist when Rotella was in the USA and he was in contact with members of the New Dada movement; when he went back to Rome he was inspired by the posters around the town and began carrying them in his studio to work on them.
Domenico "Mimmo" Rotella (Catanzaro, 1918 – Milan, 2006) was an Italian artist considered one of the most important figures in post-war European art. Well-known for his décollages and psychogéographics, realized with torn advertising posters. He was associated to the Ultra-Lettrists an offshoot of Lettrism and later he became a member of the Nouveau Réalisme, the important French movement founded in 1960.
