"Il Fischietto" (The Whistle) was a satirical magazine founded in Turin in 1848 by the designer Lorenzo Pedrone (Icilio) and by the typographer Giuseppe Cassone, published, with different periodicities, until 1916. It is considered the most important Italian satirical magazine of its time.  The first issue came out on November 2, 1848, with the subtitle "Bizzarrie d'attuale - Rivista illustrata con disegni originali". The name came from the intention to "whistle on all unjust things", against the "pigtails of every sect", against the limitations on civil liberties, freedom of speech and of the press.
