This is a preparatory study representing a tiger in different positions, made with fresh lines and a sure touch . This modern artwork is in very good condition except for some folds on the sheet. Hand signed on the lower right side of the drawing "W.L.".
Wilhelm Lorenz (Germany, 1901–1981), also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
