Study of Lions

Study of Lions  is an amazing pencil drawing on ivory-colored paper, realized in the 1940s by the German artist  Wilhelm Lorenz , also known as  Willi Lorenz .

This is a preparatory study made with a fat pencil, representing a lion from different points of view: in a frontal close-up, with his body at rest, crouching in profile, or in a close-up in profile. Each sketch is very realistic.

This modern artwork is in excellent conditions, except for some minor pencil stains on the lower margin.

This is the perfect artwork for your chic home decor if you want to give it a touch of wildness. Find many other original drawings of wild animals online  on Wallector.com!

Wilhelm (Willi) Lorenz
 (Germany, 1901–1981)

Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career.
