Souvenir de Martigues  is a beautiful and original black and white etching and aquatint on watermarked  BFK Rives  paper, realized by the French artist  Frédéric Émile Jeannin  (1859-1925),  after Camille Corot  (1796-1875).

Title printed on the lower margin at the center. On the sides the inscriptions " C. Corot. pinx. / F.E. Jeannin sculp. ".

On the lower right corner of the image, " 1871 C. Corot " is engraved on plate. Dated on plate.

In excellent conditions, except for some sporadic stains beyond the marginal line of the matrix, this original print, with full margins, with lifetime impression, reproduces an idyllic scene by Camille Corot, one of the most sensitive French landscapists of the XIX century.

Including a white cardboard passepartout (34 x 49 cm).

Frédéric Émile Jeannin   (1859-1925)

The French engraver, illustrator and military engraver Frédéric Émile Jeannin was a student at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and there he had as professors Eugène-André Champollion and Émile Boilvin.  Jeannin mainly reproduced engravings of the masterpieces by the masters Joshua Reynolds, Constant Troyon, Nikolaos Gysis or Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret.

Member of the Society of French Artists, he exhibited engravings in almost all the salons from 1886. Illustrator, in 1895, for George Barrie & Son, he engraved after Jacques Wagrez etchings for Les cent Contes drolatique by Balzac and in 1897 he engraved all the etchings after Gaston Bussière for the twenty-two volumes of the complete edition of Balzac's La Comedie humaine . He collaborated among others at the Almanac des spectacles directed by Albert Soubies.
