Marcello Avenali (Rome, 1912 - 1981) is an Italian artist and engraver. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, he studied at the Experimental Cinematographic Center. In 1939, he exhibited for the first time at the Gallenga Gallery in Rome. He took part in the main national exhibitions of the 50s, also sending, in 1955, some works to the Exhibition of Contemporary Italian Art of Johannesburg. In 1958, he won the "Viterbo" and "Villa S. Giovanni" prizes. His language at first oscillated between the expressive possibilities of post-cubist figurativeness and those of a more determined abstraction.
His works can be found at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome and at the Pontifical Museums and Galleries, as well as in numerous private collections.
