Hand-signed , dated, and numbered on the back of the photo. The stamp of the photographer is also present on the back.

The photo is an edition of 5 unique specimens and is part of the series  Gloomy Sunday  realized by the artist in the 2000s.

The artwork draws inspiration from the play written by Giacomo Puccini with the libretto by Illica and Giacosa, based on the story of " Madama Butterfly " written in 1898 by John Luther Long. The story is about a Japanese geisha who was seduced and then abandoned. She committed suicide by stabbing herself in the neck.
