Jean Emile Laboureur
(Nantes,France,1877 – Pénestin,France,1943) Jean-Émile Laboureur was a French painter, printmaker, designer and illustrator. He was one of the most successful and influential printmakers of his day, creating 794 prints. He learned the art of wood engraving from the printmaker Auguste Lepère. In 1897, Laboureur published the first woodcut in l’image, in the same year, Laboureur made his first etchings, and also created his first lithographs. In Laboureur’s works, we can find that the sophistication of Cubism seduced him.
