The object was realized by WMF Company . WMF, Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, has produced glass and metal objects for about a century, but the most interesting period in glass production is the decade between 1926 and 1936. This company also produced metal tableware (in particular silvered flatware). The original 1883 glass house was destroyed during the First World War. Although production of Ikora glass resumed after the war, the glass lines have never achieved the same quality as before.
The vase was designed by Karl Wiedmann that in the period between 1920s and 1930s worked for WMF. When WMF called in one of Europe's best glass makers, Karl Weidmann, to make glass for the company, he was not pleased to find out that he would be making lowly glass liners for WMF's stock designs. WMF allowed him to have his own range of glassware that they would retail. He perfected the technique of iridized surfaces for WMF Company.
