Jacques Baseilhac (1874-1903): J.B. was a French painter and engraver. Jacques Baseilhac attended painting and drawing courses at the Julian Academy from 1891 to 1894 and following the courses of Jean-Paul Laurens. He exhibited at the salon of the Société nationale des beaux-arts with works mainly depicting the inhabitants of Penmarch and in 1901 he exhibited several illustrations of Jean Richepin's poem Chanson des gueux. In the following year, the year that preceded the artist's death, 16 drawings were published on no.81 L'Assiette au Beurre (October 1802), Baseilhac has contributed to numerous satirical and artistic periodicals such as L'Assiette au beurre, Le Rire, and L'Estampe moderne.
