Gio Ponti was an italian architect and designer (Milan 1891 - 1979 therein). Supporter of an architectural and decorative reform that is reflected in the various manifestations of his versatile work as an architect and decorator and finds its theoretical foundations

in his writings and in the direction of the architecture and decorative art magazine Domus. The personal style and architectural tendency of P. are particularly reflected in the Borletti chapel in the Monumental Cemetery of Milan and the Institute of Mathematics

in the university city of Rome. In collaboration with Tommaso Buzzi he won the Popolo d'Italia competition for the furnishing of an embassy and with Giovanni Muzio he worked on the war memorial in Milan. He subsequently cooperated in the organization of the

triennial exhibitions of decorative art in Milan. He brought together several of his writings dedicated to architecture, furnishings and urbanism in the volume The Italian house. He participated in many Italian and foreign architecture exhibitions and as artistic

consultant of the Richard-Ginori ceramic manufacturers he inaugurated a new style and favored the technical and artistic improvement of that art.
