Antonio Feltrinelli (Milan, 1887 - Gargnano, 1942) was an Italian entrepreneur, painter and patron. After studying law, he worked for the family company that operated in wood processing, but which he successfully diversified . He left a significant part of his fortune to the Accademia d'Italia for the award of national and international prizes that should bear his name. After the collapse of fascism, this task was transferred to the re-established Accademia dei Lincei , which finances the Premio Antonio Feltrinelli from the proceeds of this legacy, which since 1967 has been known as Fondo Antonio Feltrinelli. He made his first public appearance as an artist in 1930, including at the Venice Biennale. Paintings by him are in the collections of the Galleria d 'Arte Moderna in Milan and the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris
