A friar is about to defecate after eating, as the spoon in his right hand suggests. He looks at his right, towards a pile of masks near a urinal; on the left, a messy pile of devout prints (a Virgin, the miraculous apparition of another), ex voto made of wax (for example, trousers near a crutch), and a mannequin with female clothes. In the background, in the shadow, other friars appear in procession. This plate criticizes the atavistic religious habits of the Ancien Régime; the friar lives as a lord thanks to the ignorance of the gullible and superstitious believers (symbolized by the ex voto and the images on the right) of which the clerics take advantage (symbolized by the masks).
