Man with the club
Man with the club is a wonderful black and white etching on rosaspina paper, realized by an anonymous master of the Italian school of the end of the XVII century.
This original print with lifetime impression describes with an incredible hatching the male anatomy exalted in important volumes. For this reason, we could identify the character of this print in the figure of the Greek mythological hero Herakles remembered for his forceful and powerful body. Another proof for this evidence is the club he carries.
Numbered on the lower margin at the center, this plate reports the number 48.
In excellent conditions, although visible signs of time, light foxing on the margins beyond the marginal lines of the matrix, some minor defects on the edges, and a usual yellowing of the paper at the edges. On the verso , on the lower left corner, a blue-ink stamp "Collezione Pugliese".
An exciting original print, with all the dignity of a mythological or epic story, represented with an incredible balance of black and white, light and shadow, and a typical Baroque style.
