Lion Den

Lion Den  is an original xilography artwork realized by Mino Maccari.

Included a white Passepartout: 49 x 34 cm.

The state of preservation is very good.

The artwork represents a man from the back pointing with a gun to a lion hen while the lion is going inside and is depicted from the back, upper a man is looking from the window,  The artwork is characterized by strong and confident strokes, in a well-balanced composition with congruous and harmonious colors. 

Mino Maccari (Siena, 1898 – Rom, 1989) was a popular Italian painter and engraver. He produced many artworks through different graphic techniques. He exhibited at important international exhibitions in the fields of art and graphics. In 1959, he became the director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome; in 1963, he won Antonio Feltrinelli's prize for painting and became president of the San Luca Academy. He realized many lithographs and etchings of satirical and political subject matters. He was also famous for erotic and sexual drawings. He has worked for many years at Il Mondo.
