This old master's original print is a beautiful artist proof , the 148th plate from the series Liber Veritatis , published in Rome in 1815 by Francesco Bourlié. Representing an antique feast in the woods, this aquatint by Ludovico Caracciolo (engraver) was inspired by the production of the French painter Claude Lorrain ( draftsman) . Signed and numbered at the bottom of the plate “ Claudio di Lorena inv., L. Caracciolo F .”.
In very good conditions, with usual slightly brown paper on the margins. Including passepartout.

Ludovico Caracciolo (Rome, 1761-1841)
Roman landscapist and engraver, specialized in architectural drawings and panoramas of the Eternal City, Caracciolo loved travelling and drawing the most beautiful scenes he saw along the way. He became a protégé of Elizabeth Foster , the second wife of the fifth Duke of Devonshire , William Cavendish, and had the opportunity to publish a set of prints inspired by Claude Lorrain‘s works, collected in the Liber Veritatis , Rome, Francesco Bourlié, 1815 (now in the collection of the British Museum).
