Les Mariés
Les Mariés is an important colored etching made by the artist Hans Bellmer , after a tempera of 1941.
This is an artist proof. The state of preservation is excellent. On the lower right, the inscription in pencil “ E. A. ”, whilst on the lower left still in pencil the signature “ Bellmer ”.
This beautiful print represents a Surreal image with a girl. It was engraved in Paris in 200 exemplars and 10 exemplars on Japon paper, in a period in which Bellmar dedicated mostly to drawing erotic subjects.
This is a splendid engraving, with an unusual technical rendering of a very interesting and mysterious subject.

Before the war, in the moment of realization of the tempera from which this print took inspiration, Belllmer fled from Germany where his art was openly against Nazism. He took refuge in Paris, where he began exhibiting his “ Pupee ” or dolls (strange beings built and photographed by him) with Surrealists. These surreal works denounced the politics of a perfect human race and the social conditions of women.
This is a splendid engraving, with an unusual technical rendering of a very interesting and mysterious subject.
