Kabuki Scene  is an original color woodblock print on paper, realized by the Japanese artist  Utagawa Kuniy osh i  (1798–1861)  at the middle of the XIX century. 
Signed  on plate with the publishing house cachet and Yoshikiri stamps printed. 

This wonderful modern artwork represents a beautiful actress performing, wrapped in blue cloths. The incredible drapery and texture of the Japanese dress at the same time stand out and are hidden by the blue background.

In very good condition, except for minor defects and signs of the time like visible foxing in the printed area.

About the author:  Utagawa Kuniyoshi   (1798–1861).
He was one of the last great Japanese masters of the Japanese e-Ukiyo style.   He was a member of the Utagawa school.  The range of Kuniyoshi's subjects included many genres: landscapes, beautiful women, Kabuki  actors, cats, and mythical scenes . He is known for depictions of the battles of legendary samurai heroes.
