Beautiful miniature representing a battle scene. The miniature is enriched with strokes of gold color in the background and on the frame. The background is entirely painted. On the left, there are some figures that watch the scene. The miniatures, which are gouache paintings on paper, take their names from the fineness of their details which, in some cases, are visible only with the use of a magnifying glass. The Rajput miniature is developed in the north of India starting from the XVI century and is subdivided into pictorial schools characterized by regional styles. It will have its greatest flowering with the slow decline of the Moghul dynasty, in the 18th century, when the miniaturist painters of this important imperial court moved to Rajasthan and northern India to seek commissions from the Maharajas.
