Ceremonial Cloth 'Tapis' of Lampung

This Cerimonial cloth from Lampung is an original artwork realized in the XX century and realized in Indonesia.

Cotton and silk with golden threads. 

Good conditions. 

A very similar tapis is at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco (inv. n. 1991.38).

Traditional and precious tapis realized in an ancient and traditional Oriental technique with a particular golder weaving. This artwork has been realized in the land of Lampung (Indonesia) and, in the surface of the composition, there are represented several plant and vegetal geometrical motifs. The artwork is characterized by a great softness of the touch and a very fine silk work. The figures on the surface are abstract and colored and represents several vegetal elements of Indonesian tradition.
