Hoki Shimotani shinkei
Hoki Shimotani shinkei is a superb original ten colour woodblock print on paper, by the Japanese master Utagawa Hiroshige II (Shigenobu), (Japan 1797-1858). This plate is from the series Shokoku meisho hyakkei (“One Hundred Famous Views in the Various Provinces) , dated 1859-1861.
Property from a Wuerttemberg private collection, assembled between the 1950s and 2000 –
Excellent condition, with usual aging signs ( a little abrasion of the paper, an imperceptible hole on the higher right margin, yellowings). Despite these little defects, this specimen is completely legible and intact. Unframed
Collect an amazing view of Shimotani in the Hoki province by the Japanese master of ukiyo-e art that inherited the name of “Hiroshige ”, after the death of his master Hiroshige (1858), in addition to married his wife. The artworks by Hiroshige II resembles to those of his master, Utagawa Hiroshige, that scholars have often confused them. Today Hiroshige II is a synonymous of Japanese art all around the world!
