Beautiful and dark view on the seaside of Capri with the Faraglioni. The work has a typical Northern style: the surface of the sea and the sky are gray and the rocks have an intense, obscure, black color that contrasts with the cold light of the sky.
This work was realized by Max Roeder (Gladbach, 1866 - Rome, 1941). Max Roeder was a painter of landscapes and architecture and worked as a teacher. He arrived in Italy in 1886 and, in 1888, he settled in Rome, participating in the exhibitions of the Society of Amateur and Cultor of Fine Arts; he painted landscapes and views of the Roman countryside from which he made various engravings.
